I opened an '07 Flora Springs Cab on Friday night to go with my meatloaf and potatoes. I really enjoyed it, but what mystified me is that it seemed to me to taste more like a mountain Cab (Spring Mountain, Howell Mountain, etc.) than a valley floor Cab and yet according to their web site the fruit mostly comes from Rutherford. Great wine for only $20, sadly most of the '07 Napa cabs are quickly disappearing from the store shelves, so buy what you can find - it is a great vintage!

I've gotten a few bottles of some nice Italian wine when my wife came back from a trip to Umbria. I tend to not drink a full bottle all in one sitting so I use a wine saving device called, the ultra wine saver, does anyone know of anything similar that will preserve the wine? I use Argon but I hear others like vacuum pumps. Any thoughts?

Having spent some time recently with their winemaker Keith Emerson, I can definitely say that it is worth a stop when you're in Napa. Additionally, if you email Keith before your visit he should be able to arrange a taste of his personal label, Emerson Brown. $50 Napa Cab that he makes at V29 with fruit from his business partner of Round Pond fame. As far as $50 wine goes, it's quite the deal.

Benzinger makes some interesting stuff, although I think it is overpriced compared to some of the other choices out there. Personally, I like the work that he does at Imagery Estates.

Andrew - I definitely hope to, but it is a pragmatic matter that there are SO many wineries I have yet to visit that my energies are geared towards all the new ones. But I am sure along the way, since much of my information is now several years old, I will be re-visiting old favorites!

I wanted to see if you thought about ever going back to this winery. I do enjoy a bunch of the Rodney Strong wines in my local grocery store, but i wanted to see if you thought it would be worth it to travel out and try some of there reserve and higher end bottles.
